International Chamber Music Festival in the Tegernsee Pre-Alps
The Miesbach Chamber Music Festival is a young, but already internationally connected chamber music festival. Since its founding in 2021, it has gathered nine top young international instrumentalists from several continents in an Upper Bavarian village in the Miesbach district every August.
In 2026, the artists will come from the USA, Great Britain, Wales, Austria, New Zealand, Norway, and Sweden. Among them are violinists Miclen LaiPang and Fanny Fheodoroff, as well as cellists Laura van der Heijden and Rainer Crosett. They spend several days together in Hohendilching, rehearsing in various ensembles and sharing their days with the festival association's host families.
The festival presents its work in three public concerts:
A remarkable feature: All concerts are free to attend β no advance booking required, with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Voluntary donations are requested. The festival follows a conscious cultural line: top-class chamber music should be accessible to everyone, not just a paying classical audience.
The Miesbach district in Upper Bavaria, south of Munich, combines pre-Alpine landscape, Tegernsee lake, and the Schlierach valley. Hohendilching (Municipality of Valley), Holzkirchen, and Miesbach itself form the geographical framework of the festival β a region that the festival consciously uses as a resonance space and offers excellent venues with concert hosts such as St. Andreas Church or St. Josef Holzkirchen.
The 6th Miesbach Chamber Music Festival runs from Monday, August 17, to Sunday, August 23, 2026, in the Miesbach district.
