Underground Metal with History
The Metal Embrace Festival has existed since 2003, making it one of the longest-running underground metal festivals in Saxony-Anhalt. It is organized by the motorcycle club Iron Cruise MC, which opens its club grounds at Buschweg 2 in Barleben – just a few kilometers north of Magdeburg – for the festival. Over the years, Embrace has secured a firm place in the North-Central German scene and is considered the go-to meeting point for Death, Black, and Doom metal fans from the region.
In the Börde District, on the Outskirts of Magdeburg
Barleben is located in the Börde district directly north of the state capital Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt. The festival grounds at Iron Cruise MC are a classic club area with biker flair: simple, honest, without sponsor glitz. Open air on a weekend in September, with on-site camping, short distances, and a stage that is just the right size for the genre – this is the DNA of this festival.
Line-up 2026
The 2026 edition brings together fifteen bands from several European countries. Among them are the Swedish Death Metal institution Demonical, the Danish Gothic/Death-Doom band Saturnus, the Dutch Death Metal troupe Graceless, the Italian-international Aran Angmar with their mix of Black/Death and Middle Eastern folk elements, as well as German acts like Obscurity, Mystic Circle, Schizophrenia, Soul Grinder, Temple of Dread, Slaughterday, Thron, U.R.N., Abrogation, Äera, Headshot, and Rotting Demise.
Atmosphere and Audience
Embrace is a classic DIY festival: admission under 70 Euros for two days, a manageable number of visitors, camping adjacent to the grounds, food and drinks from the motorcycle club, no pre-sale through major retailers, but directly from the organizer via email or bank transfer. If you're looking for an honest, uncompromising underground metal festival far from the mainstream market, this is the place.
Metal Embrace — edition 2026
Embrace 2026 continues with the proven double concept: two days of stage time, fifteen bands from Germany, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Italy, and an audience clearly anchored in the underground scene. Headliner stars like Saturnus and Demonical are flanked by genre highlights such as Obscurity, Graceless, Mystic Circle, and Aran Angmar.
The exact schedule with stage slots will be published by the organizer about two to three weeks before the date on metalembrace.de and via the festival's Facebook page. Pre-sale ends on August 30, 2026.

Getting There
By car via the A2 (Magdeburg-Centrum exit), then B71 / B189 to Barleben. From Magdeburg, public transport via tram/bus to Barleben, then approx. 1 km walk. Site access at Buschweg 2.
Camping
Camping on the festival grounds is possible – included in the ticket price or with a surcharge. Sanitary facilities on site.
Entry & Start
Entry Friday, September 11, 2026, from 1:00 PM. Concert start at 4:00 PM Friday, winding down in the early morning hours of Sunday.
