Fifth Edition of the Medieval Market
The 5th Medieval Market in Nußloch takes place from Friday, May 8th to Sunday, May 10th, 2026, in the Max-Berk-Stadion in Nußloch. The organizers are the Burgfreunde Nußloch e.V. — an association dedicated to preserving medieval history and customs, which has established the festival in Nußloch as a fixture on the Southern German medieval market calendar.
Max-Berk-Stadion: Stadium Becomes a Medieval Town
Over the three festival days, the Max-Berk-Stadion at Mulchplatz will be converted into a medieval town: a traders' mile with blacksmiths, leatherworkers, potters, felters, weavers, basket makers, glassblowers, medicinal herb vendors, and mead brewers; several military encampments with historical equipment and camp life; a main stage for the show program; a dedicated children's area.
Sword Fighting, Crafts, and FireStone
The program includes sword fighting demonstrations by historical combat groups, equestrian games with lances, archery stations, medieval dances, and minstrel troupes. Craftsmen will demonstrate their skills live several times a day: blacksmithing, coin minting, loom work. The highlight is the grand FireStone fire show on Saturday evening with acrobatics, pyrotechnics, and a medieval soundscape — the FireStones are among the most renowned fire show troupes in Germany.
Family-Friendly Design
Children up to sword height (1.40m) have free admission. For the little ones, there are special stations: medieval games, a small supervised archery range, a hands-on blacksmithing activity, and storytelling. The Burgfreunde Nußloch explicitly aim for an event that appeals equally to adults and families.
