Traditional autumn market in the historic town centre with Sunday opening hours and culinary diversity
When the leaves in the Bergstraße landscape turn red and gold at the beginning of autumn, the city of Wiesloch invites you to the traditional autumn market. On the weekend of September 26th and 27th, 2026, the city centre, including Adenauerplatz, Hauptstraße, and the surrounding alleys, will transform into an autumnal market landscape with regional charm. The autumn market is the season-closing highlight of Stadtmarketing Wiesloch and one of the meeting points for the Rhein-Neckar region.
Stroll through dozens of market stalls — handmade crafts made of ceramics, wood, textiles, and jewellery, regional fruit juice products (apple wine, pear must, apple spritzer, quince specialities), honey, cheese, smoked sausages, baked goods, and much more. Street food stalls offer everything from classic bratwurst, crêpes, and tarte flambée to vegetarian bowls — the selection is broad and there's something for every taste.
Sunday, September 27th, 2026, features Sunday opening hours: Wiesloch retailers typically open their shops from 1 PM to 6 PM. A perfect opportunity to combine your market visit with an extended shopping spree. Fashion stores present their new autumn/winter collections, bookstores, opticians, and jewellery shops come up with special promotions.
A stage in the city centre offers changing musical performances throughout the day — from the Wiesloch city band to singer-songwriters and local cover bands. The mix of market bustle, music, autumnal decorations with pumpkins, hay bales, and corn cobs, along with the historic architecture of the Wiesloch old town centre, creates a special atmosphere. Cafés and restaurants along Hauptstraße offer outdoor seating.
The city of Wiesloch, with around 27,000 inhabitants, is located in the Rhein-Neckar district in Baden-Württemberg, about 20 kilometres south of Heidelberg. It became famous as the location of the first Bertha Benz filling station in 1888 — a point of attraction for automotive enthusiasts to this day. The historic old town with the St. Laurentius town church and the traditional market square forms the backdrop for the autumn market. Note: The previous wine festival in the park was discontinued by the municipal council in December 2025; however, the traditional autumn market and the September event format 'Wein und Markt' (Wine and Market) will continue.
The 2026 edition of the Wiesloch Autumn Market will take place as usual on the last weekend of September. The market opens at 11 AM and closes at 6 PM on both days. Sunday, September 27th, features Sunday opening hours — Wiesloch retailers typically open their shops from 1 PM to 6 PM.
The exact stage program and the list of market vendors will be published in September 2026 by Stadtmarketing Wiesloch through official channels (city website, local press). The combination of regional crafts, fruit juice specialities, street food, and stage music has proven successful.
