Castle, Valley, and Middle Ages in the Upper Palatinate Forest
The Medieval Days at Falkenstein Castle are among the most beautiful medieval markets in Eastern Bavaria. They take place at Falkenstein Castle – a high medieval complex above the market town of Falkenstein in the Cham district, in the heart of the Upper Palatinate Forest (Bavaria). The castle, located between Regensburg and the Czech border, provides a perfect backdrop for medieval activities with its fortifications and keep.
Camp Life, Combat Demonstrations, Fire
A medieval camp life emerges on the festival grounds: actors in historical costumes live, cook, and work as they would have in the 12th to 15th centuries. Craftsmen demonstrate old techniques (blacksmithing, felting, leatherwork, spinning, bow making). Combat demonstrations by fighting groups and evening fire shows attract a diverse audience of families, medieval enthusiasts, and day-trippers. For children, there is archery, hands-on activities, and child-friendly program items.
What Visitors Can Expect
- Medieval camp life with craft demonstrations
