Medieval Times at the Castle Ruins
The Immenstadt Castle Festival with Medieval Market takes place at the Laubenbergerstein Castle Ruins high above Immenstadt in the Allgäu region. The historic site provides the ideal setting for a three-day festival that brings the Middle Ages back to life: a market with traditional crafts, camp life, music, and show combat.
Market, Crafts, and Show Combat
At the medieval market, potters, blacksmiths, rope makers, leatherworkers, and jewelers showcase their skills. Sword fights, fencing demonstrations, and blacksmithing are demonstrated live. Medieval bands like Keltania and Lautenfeyn provide the musical accompaniment, along with jugglers, acrobats, and spectacular fire shows.
Program for Children
The castle festival is explicitly family-friendly: children can try on costumes, get their faces painted, and have their hair braided, work in craft workshops, try archery, and listen to stories. A castle rally with prizes ensures interactive fun.
The Three Festival Days
Corpus Christi Day (Thursday) is dedicated to the family with parades and flag wavers. Friday evening is "The Castle Rocks!" with a DJ program. Saturday features fanfare groups and spectacular fire circus performances.
