The Kirmes Oberelbert is one of the traditional summer kirmes (fairs) of the Montabaur administrative district and is anchored in the official Kirmes calendar 2026 of the Montabaur VG (as of October 2025). It continues a long tradition of Westerwald kirmes dates that take place every weekend of the summer in different municipalities of the administrative district, shaping rural festival life.
Four Days of Program
From August 7, 2026, to August 10, 2026, the kirmes offers a classic Westerwald program including the opening of the festival tent with a keg tapping ceremony, dance and disco evenings, Frühschoppen on Sunday with participation from local clubs, and a family afternoon with coffee, cake, and carousels. Food stalls, sweet shops, and beverage stands complement the festival tent events.
Club and Village Life
The kirmes is organized by local clubs and the local municipality, who pool their resources for the joint summer festival. The fire department, sports clubs, music clubs, carnival associations, and youth groups participate in the program and catering.
