Carnival in the Grafschaft Bentheim

Even though North German carnival is smaller compared to the strongholds in the Rhineland, it has a vibrant scene in the Grafschaft Bentheim region. The proximity to the Netherlands, with its own carnival customs, plays an additional role in the local festival culture.

Blanke District as Parade Route

The carnival parade starts at Gildehauser Weg in the Blanke district and winds through the streets of the area. The route is easily accessible and offers many families a spot along the roadside to watch the carnival floats, troupes, and revellers.

1:11 PM — The Carnival Hour

The parade starts at 1:11 PM — a symbolic carnival time that refers to the carnival tradition of the number eleven. This choice underscores the connection to carnival customs and traditions.

Carnival Party at Blankeplatz

After the parade, a carnival party will follow in the festival tent at Blankeplatz. The guest is Emanuel Bent, an artist well-known in the carnival scene, and the Outrage DJs will be spinning. This covers the program for both the parade and the evening.

Open for Participants

KC Alemannia Nordhorn invites all groups – clubs, friends, neighbours – to participate in the parade. This makes the festival a truly open, community-building event that involves many residents of Nordhorn.
