2nd edition of the neighbourhood May festival in front of the Stuttgart-Feuerbach district town hall — live music, children's programme, and free admission
The Maibaumfest Feuerbach is a young, but already successful, neighbourhood festival in Stuttgart's Feuerbach district in the north of the city. First held in 2025, 2026 marks its second edition. The organisers are the Musikverein Stadtorchester Feuerbach 1899 e.V. and the GHV Feuerbach (Merchants' and Craftsmen's Association) along with other local associations — a broad alliance of clubs setting the stage for a long-lasting tradition.
The festival takes place on May 1st from 11 AM to 4 PM on Wilhelm-Geiger-Platz, directly in front of the Feuerbach district town hall. The format is clearly a Swabian 'Hocketse' (a casual get-together) — a short, compact neighbourhood May festival focusing on community life rather than tourism. Live music runs from 11 AM to 2 PM — typically the Stadtorchester Feuerbach itself, supplemented by friendly brass ensembles and acoustic groups. The children's programme is organised by Waldheim Lindentäle, a Stuttgart social institution that has been organising holiday and activity programmes for children for decades. Food and drinks are available at the club stalls — Maibowle (May punch), beer, bratwurst, Swabian specialities.
Feuerbach is the northernmost district of Stuttgart, with just under 30,000 inhabitants, making it one of the medium-sized districts of Baden-Württemberg's state capital. Historically shaped by industry (Bosch headquarters, Heinz Schwerdtle mechanical engineering, traditional mechanics and optics companies), Feuerbach has developed into an urban district with a mixed population in recent decades. Wilhelm-Geiger-Platz in front of the district town hall is the social centre — weekly market, civic events, a meeting place.
The first edition in 2025 was so successful that the organisers immediately announced its repeat in 2026. The response from the neighbourhood — families, older residents, associations — was broad. The Stadtorchester Feuerbach 1899 e.V. (founded in 1899 — over 125 years of club tradition) is one of the district's defining institutions and uses the format to strengthen its position as a cultural hub.
The second edition in 2026 builds on the successful premiere in 2025. The Musikverein Stadtorchester Feuerbach 1899 e.V. and the GHV Feuerbach coordinate the programme together with other associations from the district (DLRG Feuerbach, Harmonika Orchester, etc.). The stage setup is compact: a main stage in front of the district town hall, plus several club stalls around the square.
The Stadtorchester Feuerbach 1899 e.V. opens the festival with a classic May festival programme — marches, polkas, Swabian folk tunes. Later, friendly ensembles will perform — Harmonika Orchester, brass groups, occasionally a solo acoustic set. The children's programme is spread across the square with play stations.
Free admission. Food and drinks at usual 'Hocketse' prices (Maibowle €3–€4, beer €3, bratwurst €3–€4). Proceeds go to the participating associations.
