Three days of tent festival by the youth club in the middle of the forest — Pentecost in the Aukrug Nature Park
The Luhnstedter Waldfest is one of those festivals that an entire federal state knows, even though the organizers have never advertised in the city. Three days of tent party, long tables, beer on tap, DJ and band — and an audience that travels from Friesland to Lauenburg. The festival is organized by the Landjugend Luhnstedt und Umgebung (Luhnstedt and surrounding area youth club), one of the most traditional youth organizations in Schleswig-Holstein.
The schedule follows a proven rhythm that has developed over decades:
The three-day passes are issued on Thursday directly at the Waldfest site — a special pre-event ritual for regular guests.
The festival is considered very youth-friendly but cleanly organized. From 16 years of age, entry is possible with a parental consent form and an accompanying adult, from 18 years of age free. The youth club provides its own crew of stewards, supplemented by local security services.
Luhnstedt is located in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, about 15 kilometers south of Rendsburg, on the edge of the Aukrug Nature Park. The municipality has about 400 inhabitants and sees itself as a quiet residential community with active club life — the youth club is the driving force behind village events. The Waldfest site is located slightly outside the village in a clearing, nestled between forests and meadows.
The 2026 anniversary edition marks 50 years of Luhnstedter Waldfest — an occasion for an extended program and special attention from the youth club for regular guests and locals. Opening on Friday, May 19, 2026, with DJ Mandrake from 9:00 PM.
The festival runs for three days and follows the classic structure: Friday DJ night, Saturday the big festival day with a live band and a long party night, Sunday a quieter conclusion. Three-day passes will be issued starting Thursday, May 18, at the festival grounds — a date that regular guests have had in their calendars for years.
The complete band and DJ lineup for 2026 will be announced in spring via lajuluhnstedt.de and the social media channels of the youth club.
Current detailed program and band announcements on lajuluhnstedt.de as well as on Instagram and Facebook of the Luhnstedt youth club.
By car via the A7 (exit Rendsburg or Owschlag), then follow the signs towards Luhnstedt. The Waldfest site is signposted from the village center. Parking on surrounding meadows, free of charge. Limited public transport access — many visitors come with organized shuttles from neighboring communities.
Three-day passes available from Thursday directly at the festival grounds. Day tickets at the box office. Current prices on lajuluhnstedt.de and on the youth club's social media channels.
Free entry from 18 years. From 16 years only with parental consent form and an accompanying adult. Bring your ID card.
Those who want to stay the whole weekend should bring a tent and sleeping bag — the youth club traditionally organizes a camping meadow nearby.
