Over 900 wines from Germany and the world for tasting in the Niedersachsenhalle
WeinHannover is the central wine fair for end consumers in Northern Germany and takes place twice a year — the spring edition at the end of February / beginning of March and an autumn edition in November. The organizer is Webermesse, an established trade fair organizer focusing on consumer fairs. The spring edition marks the start of the Northern German wine season, where fresh tasting experiences and comparison opportunities are particularly welcome after the winter months.
More than 900 different wines are open at the stands — a selection that even dedicated wine lovers cannot exhaust in two days. Most exhibitors are present on-site and offer personal advice: vintners from German growing regions, importers of foreign wines, wine merchants, and online retailers. Tasting portions are kept small, allowing as many wines as possible to be experienced in a structured comparison.
Germany is the focus with all 13 growing regions: Ahr, Mittelrhein, Mosel, Nahe, Rheingau, Rheinhessen, Pfalz, Hessische Bergstraße, Franken, Württemberg, Baden, Saale-Unstrut, and Sachsen. In addition, exhibitors present wines from France (Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Loire, Rhône, Languedoc), Italy (Piedmont, Tuscany, Veneto, Apulia, Sicily), Spain (Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Rias Baixas), Austria (Wachau, Styria, Burgenland), and overseas (California, Argentina, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand).
On the adjoining stage, expert lectures, sommelier workshops, and mini-tastings take place over both days: on topics such as Riesling styles in comparison, natural wines, Champagne vinification, storage in home cellars, food-wine pairing, or regionally focused spotlights. The program and registration will be published in advance on webermesse.de.
Several restaurateurs offer small dishes designed as wine accompaniments: cheese selection, ham platters, antipasti, tapas, bread variations. Those planning a full afternoon or evening can take breaks with a snack between tastings.
The HCC at Theodor-Heuss-Platz is easily accessible by tram (lines 4 and 5, stop Aegidientorplatz or Braunschweiger Platz). A few minutes' walk from the main train station or by tram. Parking garage directly at the HCC.
The exact exhibitor list and workshop program will be continuously updated by the organizer on webermesse.de.
