About Luftschloss

The Luftschloss at Tempelhofer Feld is the summer stage of the ATZE Musiktheater – an open-air amphitheater for around 350 spectators right at the west entrance of the former Tempelhof Airport. From May to September, the area at Tempelhofer Damm 59 (Tempelhof district) transforms into a four-month stage for theater, concerts, comedy, improvisation theater, dance, cinema, and discussion formats. The organizer is the ATZE Musiktheater, which combines its own family productions with guest performances from the Berlin independent scene. Highlight 2026: the concert series "Von Luft & Liedern" with Dota Kehr, Max Prosa, Felix Meyer, and the Rio Reiser Band.

Getting There

Subway U6 to Platz der Luftbrücke (approx. 5 minutes walk) or Tempelhof, S-Bahn S41/S42/S46 to Tempelhof. Bus 184 or 248 to Friedrich-Karl-Straße. The amphitheater is located at the west entrance of Tempelhofer Feld, a short walk from Tempelhofer Damm.

Tips

The amphitheater is open-air – pack warm layers and a rain poncho, depending on the weather. In case of heavy rain, performances will be relocated; current information at luftschloss-tempelhoferfeld.de. Picnic blankets and folding stools are allowed; own food and non-alcoholic drinks are also permitted, but please purchase alcoholic beverages on-site.

A Summer Stage with History

The Luftschloss Tempelhofer Feld is one of Berlin's youngest and most beautiful open-air concepts. Directly at the west entrance of Tempelhofer Feld – one of Europe's largest inner-city open spaces, created on the site of the old Tempelhof Airport – the ATZE Musiktheater built an amphitheater for around 350 spectators in 2023. The location is extraordinary: a historically dense place, yet a modern, accessible entrance.

Family Theater Plus Adult Program

The focus is on the program of the ATZE Musiktheater, which has been producing family theater and musicals for children at its main venue in Berlin-Wedding for decades. In summer, ATZE moves to Tempelhofer Feld. Family productions such as "Robin Hood" (premiere 2025) are shown here, as well as theater for adults, improvisation evenings, comedy, and cabaret programs.

"Von Luft & Liedern" – The Concert Series

The concert series "Von Luft & Liedern" is the musical highlight of each season. It brings established German singer-songwriters and bands to the small stage: announced for 2026 are Dota Kehr, Max Prosa, Felix Meyer, the Rio Reiser Band, and the queer hip-hop puppets Puppetmastaz. Advance tickets in the season offer from around €18.

More Than Just Concerts

In addition to theater and music, there are film screenings, discussion evenings, dance performances, and occasional festivals (comedy nights, improv festivals). The Luftschloss sees itself as a deliberately family-friendly summer stage with a high density of programming – sometimes two to three events per day on weekends. The organizer is the ATZE Musiktheater, which complements its year-round theater operations at its main venue in Berlin-Wedding with the summer months at Tempelhofer Feld.
