Over 2,000 experiments, lectures, and science shows at 60 Berlin research institutions — Adlershof as the central location
When a Saturday evening in June turns Berlin and Potsdam into a science night, thousands of Berliners enter research labs, university buildings, observatories, and institute foyers — many for the first time. The Long Night of Sciences was founded in 2001 and is now Germany's largest science festival. Around 60 scientific institutions open their doors between 5 PM and midnight — with over 2,000 experiments, lectures, science shows, and guided tours.
The Adlershof Technology Park (WISTA) in the Adlershof district (Treptow-Köpenick borough) is one of Germany's most important science and business locations — with over 1,000 companies and research institutions spread across approximately 4.2 km². During the Long Night of Sciences, it becomes one of the festival's central hubs. Highlights in Adlershof:
In addition to Adlershof, 60 other locations are part of the festival — from the TU Berlin in Charlottenburg to the HU Berlin in Mitte, the Freie Universität in Dahlem, the Berlin-Buch Campus, the Helmholtz-Zentrum for Materials and Energy, and the University of Potsdam. With the festival ticket, you can travel between locations using special buses.
Over 2,000 program items at around 60 locations in Berlin and Potsdam, between 5 PM and midnight. Adlershof, as the Berlin Science Campus, is one of the main locations: the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin with the synchrotron light source BESSY II, the Humboldt University's Faculty of Natural Sciences, several Fraunhofer Institutes, the German Aerospace Center, and high-tech companies open their doors.
