Long Night of Sciences 2025 — Proven Format, Sold-Out Halls
In June 2025, the Long Night of Sciences once again opened the doors of around 60 Berlin and Potsdam research institutions between 5 PM and midnight. In the Adlershof Technology Park — one of Berlin's science hubs — the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin with the synchrotron BESSY II, the Faculty of Natural Sciences at HU Berlin, several Fraunhofer Institutes, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and high-tech companies were the main attractions. Over 2,000 program items citywide — hands-on experiments, lab tours, lectures on current research, science shows with spectacular live demonstrations, children's and youth programs, as well as special girls' programs for STEM promotion. Special buses shuttled between locations all night, and S-Bahn services were increased. Families, school classes, and science-interested Berliners of all generations mingled in lecture halls and foyers — one of the few Berlin festivals explicitly designed for intergenerational appeal, making science accessible as a shared urban experience.
