Literature in unusual places in the Eifel — Holger Löttel reads in Mechernich
lit.eifel is one of North Rhine-Westphalia's most renowned literary festivals. For years, the festival organized by lit.eifel e.V. has been bringing national and international authors to the Eifel — not to traditional literary houses, but to unusual locations: castles, churches, halls, museums, libraries, train stations. This connection between literature and place makes the festival unique.
On Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at 7:00 PM, Holger Löttel will read in Mechernich. This reading is one of approximately 20 lit.eifel program points in 2026, taking place from April to November in towns and communities across the Eifel — from Bad Münstereifel to Roetgen, Nettersheim, Kall, and Heimbach. The festival is accompanied by the 13th Eifel Youth Literature Prize on the motto „Hoping & Dreaming“ and a Poetry Evening in Nettersheim on October 22.
Tickets for the readings are available via ticket-regional.de or at the respective advance booking offices. Prices vary depending on the venue and format between €8 and €15 (concessions for pupils and students).
The town of Mechernich is located in the district of Euskirchen in the northern Eifel (North Rhine-Westphalia). With the Bleiberg mining and the pilgrimage site of Kallmuth, it is a historically significant Eifel town. The festival is supported by the Ministry for Culture and Science of NRW and regional sponsors.
In 2026, the lit.eifel festival will feature authors such as Carsten Henn (May 22, Nideggen), Pierre Jarawan (June 10, Blankenheim), Harald Welzer (July 15, Roetgen), and Kai Meyer (September 24, Bad Münstereifel) in the Eifel. Holger Löttel's reading on November 18 in Mechernich is part of the late autumn program.
