Vea Kaiser reads „Fabula Rasa“ on April 24, 2026 in Heimbach — a stop on the travelling literature festival Lit.Eifel
Austrian bestselling author Vea Kaiser is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary German-language literature. Her novels — „Blasmusikpop“, „Makarionissi oder Die Insel der Seligen“, „Rückwärtswalzer“, and most recently „Fabula Rasa“ — combine tragicomic wit with a warm-hearted view of European lifestyles. On Friday, April 24, 2026, at 7:00 PM, she will read as part of Lit.Eifel in Heimbach.
„Fabula Rasa“ is Kaiser's latest novel. With her usual blend of literary brilliance and keen observation of everyday life, she tells a story that sharply illuminates the present. At the reading, Kaiser will present selected passages, comment on the book's creation, and allow time for audience questions and autographs.
Lit.Eifel is a travelling literature festival organized annually by lit.eifel e.V. The concept: „Literature in a new form in unusual places in the Eifel region“. Instead of a central festival hub, the program tours through numerous Eifel towns — Heimbach, Mechernich, Bad Münstereifel, Kall, Nettersheim, Blankenheim, and more. Each reading takes place in a location chosen specifically for it: historic rooms, churches, castles, monasteries, natural settings.
Heimbach is located in the Düren district, on the northern edge of the Eifel National Park, about 60 kilometers south of Cologne. The small town (approx. 4,200 inhabitants) is known for its picturesque setting on the Rur river, the Heimbach hydroelectric power plant (an industrial monument), Hengebach Castle, and its romantic old town. Heimbach is the starting point for numerous hikes into the National Park — a literary reading in this natural setting is a special experience.
Vea Kaiser, born in 1988, is considered one of the most important voices in contemporary Austrian literature. Her language is characterized by folk music, slang, and literary reflection — a hybrid style that delights both critics and a broad audience. On tour, she adds a special touch to her readings: she reads passionately, comments humorously, and takes time for her audience.
The Heimbach stop is one of many readings in the Lit.Eifel 2026 program. Those who miss one stop can attend another in a neighboring Eifel town. Festival tickets are often priced per event — many visitors attend multiple stops throughout the spring and early summer of 2026.
