Rock/Metal Open Air between Eifel and Rursee
When the amplifiers are turned up high on the first weekend of July in Nideggen-Schmidt at an altitude of 600 meters, the Tollrock Open Air is back. The festival grounds "An der Schönen Aussicht" are located on the edge of the North Eifel, with a view of the Rursee — and on July 10th and 11th, 2026, the festival will bring an international lineup to an intimate festival area nestled between forests and mountain panoramas.

A special feature of Tollrock: the Tollrockerz band contest on Saturday afternoon. Here, newcomer bands from the region and beyond compete against each other — the festival crew selects the winners, who receive a slot at the next Tollrock. This creates a fluid format between the underground and the headliner stage.
The festival includes a camping area directly at the grounds — without camping, a festival visit is impractical due to the distance to the nearest town. On tollrock.de, you can find festival ground maps, camping conditions, parking, and evacuation information. Those arriving by train will reach Düren or Schmidt station; the final stretch is by shuttle or car.
The district of Schmidt belongs to the town of Nideggen in the Düren district and is located in the North Eifel Nature Park. With the Rursee lake, the Rursee ships, the rocks of the Kermeter, and Nideggen Castle, the region is a preferred destination for hiking and nature. During Tollrock, the quiet upland district transforms into a vibrant festival hotspot.
With ACCEPT on Friday evening, Tollrock 2026 has landed a real headliner coup. The German heavy metal legends, led by Wolf Hoffmann, are among the internationally best-known metal bands from Germany — from "Balls to the Wall" to "Restless and Wild". Life Of Agony, Die Happy, and H-Blockx (with their mid-90s hit rock history) also make the lineup a charming festival of rock classics.
The festival takes place on a main stage over two days. Camping is available directly at the grounds, with catering in the festival area. The Tollrockerz band contest on Saturday afternoon offers newcomers a stage at the open-air festival.
Stage times are current on tollrock.de/lineup.
