48th Concert Series in the Baroque Town Church of Lindow in the Ruppiner Seenland
The Lindower Sommermusiken are among the oldest concert series in the Ruppiner Seenland and the state of Brandenburg. Since 1978, the series has been dedicated to church music in a broader sense – classical, baroque, romantic, but also contemporary and folk music programmes find their place. 2026 will host the 48th edition.
The venue is the Stadtkirche Lindow (Mark), a baroque church built between 1751 and 1755 with an original Wilhelm Sauer organ from 1898. The acoustics of the church interior are legendary – they are one of the main attractions of the concerts and shape the profile of the series.
The 2026 programme focuses on the accordion. Two concerts are at the centre: one with tangos from the 1920s to 1940s, another with 'fantastic sounds of the 19th century' – romantic piano works arranged for accordion. A rather rare constellation on German summer music series.
A highlight in 2026 is the memorial concert to mark the 350th anniversary of Paul Gerhardt's death. The hymn writer and Protestant theologian (1607–1676) is one of the most influential voices in Protestant church music in Brandenburg – 'Befiehl du deine Wege', 'Geh aus, mein Herz', and 'O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden' are from his pen. The concert brings together well-known and lesser-known works.
Parallel to the concerts, Neuruppin-based pastel artist Gabriele Lettow is exhibiting her show 'Farbenrausch in Pastell'. Lettow creates colour-intensive, lively paintings inspired by the nature of the Ruppiner Seenland. The exhibition opens after the opening concert.
Lindow (Mark) is located in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district, about 60 km northwest of Berlin, in the Ruppiner Seenland. The region is characterised by one of Brandenburg's densest lake chains and is one of the most popular recreational areas in the capital region. The Sommermusiken combine concert visits and day trips – a concept that has endured for almost 50 years.
The 48th Lindower Sommermusiken 2026 continues the tradition of the concert series in the baroque town church of Lindow. The individual concert dates are spread between the end of June and the end of August; the exact programme will be published before the start of the series.
