City bar with Rhine view at Schlossvorplatz during the Weinfestival Koblenz
The Ufer-Bar is the most urban format of the Weinfestival Koblenz. Located directly at Schlossvorplatz, between the Electoral Palace (Kurfürstliches Schloss) and the Rhine promenade, it creates a summer atmosphere for over two months that is otherwise only found in Mediterranean cities. The location is spectacular: raising a glass of Riesling or Spätburgunder here, you look out over the Rhine and the mighty Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site perched above the opposite bank.
The organizer is Koblenz-Touristik GmbH, which launched the Weinfestival in 2021 and has been expanding it step by step ever since. The Ufer-Bar was created as an urban complementary format to the classic wine festival and quickly became a favorite meeting spot for many Koblenz residents and day-trippers. It is open daily – from the festival's kick-off on May 8th until the official crowning of the WeinKaiserWein winner on July 11th, 2026. In previous years, it was also kept open beyond the festival's end until the end of September.
The wine selection at the Ufer-Bar is a curated list from all the wineries participating in the festival. Riesling from the Mosel, Elbling from the Mittelrhein, Spätburgunder from the Ahr, single-vineyard wines from Koblenz's own districts of Ehrenbreitstein, Güls, Lay, and Moselweiß: here, regional wine culture can be experienced in a single glass. For those who prefer not to drink wine, there are non-alcoholic cocktails, spritzers, lemonades, and coffee available.
On weekends, the Ufer-Bar opens in the morning with brunch sessions accompanied by live music. Acoustic sets, jazz trios, or singer-songwriters create a relaxed atmosphere perfect for long mornings by the Rhine. Thus, the Ufer-Bar serves not only as an evening meeting point but also as a daytime backdrop for brunch, lunch meetings, and afternoon coffee.
The symbolic conclusion is the crowning of the WeinKaiserWein 2026 on July 11th, held directly at the Ufer-Bar. With a ceremony and tasting of the chosen festival wine, the main phase of the Weinfestival concludes – the bar itself often remains open for longer.
The Ufer-Bar will run from May 8th to July 11th in 2026 as an official part of the Weinfestival Koblenz. The bar opens daily at Schlossvorplatz with views of the Rhine. The exact program for the brunch sessions and musical accompaniment will be continuously updated on the festival website. An extension of the opening hours beyond the festival end until approximately the end of September is possible – this has been implemented in several previous years.
