Berlin's Family Festival for Emergency Services

The Lichtenberger Blaulichttag is one of the few Berlin themed festivals that consistently focuses on civil security and aid infrastructure each year. The organizer is the Lichtenberg District Office via the Commissioner for Disaster Protection; the venue has been the grounds at Landsberger Allee 300 in Lichtenberg for years.

Who is Presenting

All relevant rescue, security, and aid organizations with a connection to Berlin are invited:

  • Berlin Fire Brigade with firefighting demonstrations and vehicle exhibition
  • Berlin Police with dog unit, mounted unit, and prevention services
  • Federal Police and Customs with sniffer dogs and operational equipment
  • Technisches Hilfswerk (THW) with heavy recovery equipment
  • Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft (DLRG) – Water rescue
  • Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK) – Medical services, social work
  • Bundeswehr – Aid in disaster situations
  • Other associations, aid services, and volunteer initiatives

Know. Act. Help.

The festival motto gets straight to the point: Know about self-protection, first aid, fire safety, and how to act in emergencies; Act in practical exercises and hands-on activities; Help as an invitation to civic engagement in aid services. The district office explicitly sees the day as promotion for volunteer work in rescue and security organizations.

Family Festival with Hands-on Activities

Numerous stations are planned for children and families: Fire brigade's 'Little Firefighters' course, climbing on emergency vehicles, first aid exercises, crime scene investigation with the police, dog demonstrations, water rescue displays. Admission is free, snacks and drinks are available on site.

History and Location

The Blaulichttag takes place on the district grounds at Landsberger Allee 300 in Lichtenberg — easily accessible by tram M5/M6 (stop Landsberger Allee/Rhinstraße). Past events were held on May 6, 2023, and June 28, 2025. The date varies slightly from year to year and is officially confirmed by the district office each spring.
