Traditional Leonhardi Ride with Horse Blessing and Autumn Market
The Brucker Leonhardifahrt has deep religious origins: in 1743, a cattle plague struck Fürstenfeldbruck. The citizens asked Saint Leonard, the patron saint of animals, for help and vowed to hold a service in his honor. This vow evolved into the tradition that has taken place annually in its current form since 1966.
The highlight is the festive procession through the city center. Numerous festively decorated horse-drawn carriages, coaches, and riders – accompanied by brass bands and marching groups – are led to the Leonhardikirche, where horses and animals are blessed. A votive Mass in front of the Leonhardikirche forms the spiritual core.
Around the Leonhardifahrt, an autumn market with a beer tent, funfair, and dance events takes place. Thus, religious custom is combined with a secular folk festival character to create a celebration for the entire region.
The Leonhardifahrt is one of the major traditional events in the district of Fürstenfeldbruck. The images of the decorated carriages in front of the Fürstenfeld Monastery complex make it a photogenic highlight of the event year.
The 2026 edition of the Brucker Leonhardifahrt is scheduled for November 6. In honor of Saint Leonard, the patron saint of horses and stable animals, festively decorated carriages, coaches, and riders parade through the city center of Fürstenfeldbruck.
The spiritual core is the votive Mass in front of the Leonhardikirche, followed by the procession with horse blessing. Around the ride, an autumn market with a beer tent, funfair, and dance events takes place.
