High-caliber crafts market with around 100 exhibitors from Germany, France, and the Benelux countries
The St. Wendeler LebensArt is one of the most renowned craft markets in Saarland. On a weekend at the end of August, around 100 artists from Germany, France, and the Benelux countries transform the pedestrian zone of the district town of St. Wendel in the St. Wendel region into a vibrant open-air gallery.
The spectrum ranges from monumental sculpture to fine jewelry:
The selection is curated — a principle that clearly distinguishes LebensArt from typical craft markets. This is not about mass-produced goods, but about artists who personally explain their work.
The old town of St. Wendel, with its late-Gothic Wendelinus Basilica, the castle, and the historic Brunnenstraße, provides the perfect backdrop. Cafés and restaurants in the pedestrian zone cater to visitors, and on Sunday, the shops open for an afternoon of shopping.
St. Wendel — the district capital of St. Wendel — has developed into a surprisingly dense cultural hub in recent years. LebensArt is in line with the Steinhauerstraße Sculpture Park and the St. Wendel City Gallery, complementing the image of a small district town that invests above-average resources in contemporary art.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept: two days, around 100 artists, free admission, and Sunday shopping (1 p.m. to 6 p.m.). The entire city center will be dedicated to the market, from the pedestrian zone to Schlossplatz.
