Five-day club Kerwa at the sports center southwest of Coburg
Weitramsdorf is located about 8 kilometers southwest of Coburg, in the Rodach valley on the border between Upper Franconia and the Coburg region. With just under 2,800 inhabitants, the village is modest in size, but its club life is all the more vibrant — and the TSV Weitramsdorf 1889 e.V., founded in the year the Eiffel Tower opened, is its undisputed center. Its motto: 'One Village. One Club. Only TSV.' This applies to the sports departments (football, gymnastics, table tennis, aerobics) — and especially to the annual Kerwa in October.
Unlike most Franconian Kirchweihen, which are organized around the parish church and a festival tent, the Weitramsdorf Kerwa is purely a club event: the venue is the sports center with its adjoining TSV hall, beer garden, and sports field. The TSV hall becomes the party stage, the beer garden a cozy meeting place during the day, and the sports field an arena for the traditional football match on Kerwa Sunday.
The centerpiece is the famous 'Roast Goose Breast and Roulades with Dumplings' lunch on Kerwa Sunday — a specialty prepared the same way for decades, for which advance reservations are expressly recommended by calling 09561/39060 or 09561/37255. Those who come without a reservation risk going hungry. On Kerwa Monday, the classic Weißwurst breakfast with beer follows from 10 a.m. — a Bavarian tradition adopted by the Coburg region from the rest of Upper Franconia.
In the Coburg district, the Kerwa season traditionally takes place between September and October — Neundorf, Meeder, Laubendorf, Weitramsdorf, and many other villages celebrate their club Kerwas during this time. The Weitramsdorf Kerwa, along with the Neundorf Kirchweih, is one of the best-known in the region and regularly attracts guests from the entire Coburg district. The local newspaper 'Neue Presse Coburg' publishes an overview of the Coburg Kerwas with dates and programs every autumn.
TSV Weitramsdorf was founded in 1889 and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2014. The Kerwa has been part of the club calendar for generations and, alongside sporting events, is the club's biggest social highlight.
TSV Weitramsdorf has published the date for the 2026 Kerwa on its website. The five days follow the proven schedule of recent years, which has earned a solid reputation in the Coburg region.
The opening is traditionally on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. with the Kerwa dinner — the unofficial kickoff for the club family and all friends of TSV. On Saturday, the TSV hall becomes the party location, Sunday focuses on lunch and sports, and on Monday, the Kerwa concludes convivially with the Weißwurst breakfast.
Musical accompaniment is provided by DJ Mohri and DJ Bridger on Saturday, and DJ Gute Laune from Sunday evening onwards.
