Mittsommernacht Weitramsdorf
Summer Night Festival of the NaturFreunde Coburg at the Hofmannsteiche
2026
About Mittsommernacht Weitramsdorf
Mittsommernacht Weitramsdorf — edition 2026
With the date falling on June 20, 2026, the 2026 Mittsommernacht is almost exactly on the astronomical summer solstice. The Coburg local group of NaturFreunde Deutschlands will open the clubhouse at the Hofmannsteiche from 6 PM. With summer temperatures, the forecourt will become the festival area: beer table sets, a grill, drink service, and a campfire pit for the evening's end.
Classic summer delicacies will be offered: grilled sausages, steaks, cold salads, Franconian snack platters, and warm daily dishes inside. Those who wish can stay until dusk – on the summer solstice, the sun sets around 9:30 PM over Coburg, and it remains light long after.

The Hofmannsteiche near Weitramsdorf, southwest of Coburg, are a traditional local recreation area featuring a complex of carp ponds, old oak trees, and a clubhouse operated by the NaturFreunde Coburg for decades. Here, the local group organizes the Mittsommernacht every year around the astronomical start of summer – a festival that draws on the Northern European tradition of Midsummer celebrations but gains its own character in the Franconian-Bavarian context.
The Naturfreundehaus at the Hofmannsteiche is a year-round hiking lodge with catering and accommodation. It is located about 3 km from the center of Weitramsdorf, nestled in the forest and pond area between Neudorf train station and the city of Coburg. Hikers on the Coburg hiking trail network and cyclists on local routes regularly pass by the Hofmannsteiche.
The Mittsommernacht itself is not a large public festival (Volksfest), but rather a more convivial, almost family-like summer evening event. The focus is on shared meals under the open sky, conversations at the beer tables, gazing over the shimmering ponds, and – weather permitting – lingering until late into the bright summer night.
