Three Dates — One Concept
The Lagenser Sommer is not a classic festival with a main stage and ticket office, but a curated series of free events on the market square of Lage (Lange Straße 70). The organiser is Stadtmarketing Lage, which uses the concept to revitalise the city centre during the summer holidays. Three days between mid-July and early August form the framework of the series, each with its own profile.
17 July 2026 — Summer Concert with Hirsch.Böcke
The opening on Friday, 17 July 2026, between 5 PM and 10 PM. The local band Hirsch.Böcke plays handmade German rock with plenty of energy, as well as rock and party classics. Anyone looking for a relaxed evening with beer, currywurst, and cheerful sing-along hits will be happy here.
18 July 2026 — Day for the 'I-Männchen'
On Saturday, everything revolves around the upcoming first-graders ('I-Männchen' in the East Westphalian-Lippe dialect) and their siblings. Between 11 AM and 4 PM, there will be:
- Free school cones to fill
- Workshops and hands-on activities
- Trapeze and climbing opportunities
- Children's band on stage
A perfect day to celebrate the transition from kindergarten to school in a family atmosphere.
8 August 2026 — Small Arts & Street Theatre
The finale is the street artist show: On Saturday, 8 August, the market square transforms into an open-air stage. Various performers deliver surprising performances, humorous acts, and a colourful mix of acrobatics, music, and comedy. The choice of artists varies from year to year — a guarantee for surprises.
Lage — the Town of the Lippe Water Road
Lage is located in the Lippe district in East Westphalia, about 20 kilometres northwest of Detmold. The town with approximately 35,000 inhabitants was historically shaped by its brickworks — today it houses the Brickworks Museum as an external site of the LWL Industrial Museum. The central market square on Lange Straße is the social heart of the town; the Lagenser Sommer turns it into a stage for three days.
