A Look Behind the Studio Doors

Once a year, Bremen's Viertel announces: KUCKEN KOMMEN (Come and See). Artists, craftspeople, and musicians affiliated with the Arbeitskreis Angewandte Kunst Bremen (AKB) open their studios, workshops, and shops to the public. From October 31 to November 1, 2026, KunstWerk im Viertel invites you to explore the creative scene of the Östliche Vorstadt from 11 am to 6 pm each day — with free admission.

Open Studios in the Östliche Vorstadt

The AKB describes itself as an association of creators from fine and applied arts, crafts, and music, who open their doors for a weekend. Visitors can watch the artists at work, engage in conversation, and discover works directly on site. A city map guides you through side streets and hidden studios that are otherwise inaccessible. For two days, the entire district around Ostertor and Steintor becomes a walkable exhibition.

Art in Bremen's Most Vibrant Quarter

Bremen's Viertel — the Östliche Vorstadt with Ostertor and Steintor — is considered the creative heart of the Hanseatic city: galleries, workshops, small shops, and a dense network of artists characterize the quarter. KUCKEN KOMMEN makes this scene tangible, combining artistic enjoyment with a stroll through one of Bremen's most distinctive neighborhoods — a grown urban culture, supported by the artists themselves.

Located in the Quarter

The venue is the Östliche Vorstadt, encompassing the Ostertor and Steintor districts, Bremen's traditional artists' and scene quarter. The short distances make the studio tour a relaxed neighborhood stroll.

KUCKEN KOMMEN — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of KunstWerk im Viertel takes place on October 31 and November 1, from 11 am to 6 pm daily, with an additional evening program from 6 pm to 10 pm at select locations. Over 50 artists and craftspeople from AKB Bremen are opening their studios in the Östliche Vorstadt.

On October 31 and November 1, 2026, members of AKB Bremen will open their studios, workshops, and shops in the Viertel, from 11 am to 6 pm each day; selected locations will also offer an evening program from 6 pm to 10 pm. A joint city map with all addresses will guide you through the hidden studios of Ostertor and Steintor. The exact list of participants will be finalized shortly before the weekend through the application process. Free admission.
