Open-Air festival by FC Alemannia 05 Eggenstein — Rock, Country, Funk, and Tribute bands in the Hardtwald forest
Rock am Wald has been the summer festival of FC Alemannia 05 Eggenstein, a traditional football club in the northern Karlsruhe district, since 2002. What began as a small club open-air event is now one of the most important summer events for the club and the community of Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, attracting around 2,000 visitors per festival weekend. The idea: live music from the local and regional scene on a large festival stage, a cozy sports ground as the venue, fair prices, and the familiar club life as the backbone of the organization.
July 30th–August 1st, 2026 brings three festival days:
The setlist mixes classic rock ("Wonderwall", "Sweet Home Alabama") with harder genres (Nu Metal, Punk Rock) and country classics. Those expecting "In the End" and "Numb" at the Linkin Park tribute will get their money's worth.
The FC Alemannia 05 sports grounds are located at Sportplatzweg 13 in Eggenstein, right at the entrance to the Hardtwald forest. An open playing field with a stage, bar, and catering tent, framed by old pine trees, creates the typical open-air atmosphere: approachable, cozy, without the stuffiness of large events. You'll be a maximum of 50 meters from the stage — a concert experience that consciously sets itself apart from major festivals with giant main stages.
The municipality of Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen (around 16,000 inhabitants) is located north of Karlsruhe (AGS 08215) on the edge of the Hardtwald forest, towards the Rhine. This is also the location of the KIT Campus North — the former Karlsruhe Research Center (FZK). The close connection between scientific research and rural club life shapes the town: at Rock am Wald, KIT researchers dance alongside farmers and city kids from Karlsruhe.
The club itself runs the bar and catering — an important source of income for youth work. Grilled sausages, fries, burgers, local Black Forest beers, and non-alcoholic options. Fair prices, cup deposit system, waste avoidance. Admission is affordable, with day tickets and festival passes being cheaper in advance than at the box office.
The 2026 edition of Rock am Wald features six bands over two main evenings. With One Step Closer performing a Linkin Park tribute as the festival finale, a nostalgic highlight for fans of the early 2000s is on the setlist.
