About fluctoplasma

fluctoplasma is Hamburg's decentralized festival addressing the question of how we want to live together. Four days of performance, discussion, music, art, theater, and film at eleven locations between St. Pauli, Eimsbüttel, and the city center. Pay-what-you-want tickets, awareness team, clear stance against discrimination – a festival that aesthetically negotiates political themes.

A Festival, Many Locations

Since 2020, fluctoplasma has been running as a decentralized Hamburg festival – no central grounds, but eleven locations spread across the city, presenting the festival in a multi-day parcours. The 2026 venues include the Bismarck Monument on the harbor, the Central Library at Hühnerposten, the MARKK (Museum am Rothenbaum), the Kölibri at GWA St. Pauli, the F-Pavillon in LICHTHOF Rentzelstraße, the RecGround Studio, the Theater Altes Heizkraftwerk, TONALi, and the Westwerk. The festival consciously reacts to a polarity reflected in Hamburg's urban planning: between elite spaces (Elbphilharmonie, MARKK) and spaces of movement (GWA St. Pauli, Westwerk).

"humanity in (dis)solution"

The theme for 2026 is "humanity in (dis)solution" – a deliberately double-layered title. It discusses the dissolution of traditional concepts of humanity as well as the dissolution of solidarity in an increasingly fragmented society. The contributions include dance, performance, experimental music, lecture-performances, installations, discourse rounds, and film screenings.

Awareness, Inclusion, Pay-What-You-Want

fluctoplasma sees itself as a discrimination-free space. An awareness team in pink vests works on-site, and there is a hotline (040 / 37085832). Tickets follow a Pay-What-You-Want model between €25 (reduced) and €60 (solidarity rate); children under 14 are free. The individual venues are partly, but not fully, accessible – the festival recommends contacting [email protected] in advance to register personal needs.

fluctoplasma — edition 2026

The seventh edition of fluctoplasma runs from October 22 to 25, 2026. Theme "humanity in (dis)solution" – dissolution of the concept of humanity as an artistic space for reflection. Eleven venues in Hamburg, Pay-What-You-Want tickets, awareness team, Code of Conduct.

7th Edition – Theme "humanity in (dis)solution"

The seventh fluctoplasma runs from Thursday, October 22 to Sunday, October 25, 2026. The annual theme "humanity in (dis)solution" invites artists, activists, and scientists to negotiate processes of dissolution and reordering of being human – between the climate crisis, technological acceleration, migration, identity discourses, and war.
