Industrial site tours in Hamburg's port and surrounding areas
Hamburg is more than the Speicherstadt, Elbphilharmonie, and Reeperbahn. The Hanseatic city is also one of Germany's largest industrial metropolises β with a port that ranks among the top three in Europe, with shipyards, energy suppliers, logistics giants, and a dense network of small and medium-sized enterprises in mechanical engineering, chemicals, and food production. But all of this happens behind factory gates that are normally closed to the public. The Lange Nacht der Industrie changes exactly that for one evening a year.
As part of the "Lange Nacht der Industrie" event, selected Hamburg industrial and port companies open their doors for guided tours. Visitors travel by organized buses to the companies, receive a 60- to 90-minute tour with a presentation and discussion, and can often engage in conversation with employees and management. In the previous year, Hamburg's energy suppliers were among the participants.
Since the factory tours are only possible in small groups for safety and capacity reasons, prior registration via the website is absolutely essential. Experience shows that places are often taken weeks before the event. The event is free β including bus transfer. Meeting points are usually several central squares in Hamburg.
The Lange Nacht der Industrie is part of a Hamburg event format that makes various themes accessible in "long nights" β similar to the Long Night of Museums or the Theatre Night. It thus joins a cultural tradition that enjoys broad acceptance and participation in Hamburg.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the Lange Nacht der Industrie Hamburg will open the factory gates of selected industrial and port companies. As part of guided tours lasting 60β90 minutes, interested visitors will gain an insight into the inner workings of Hamburg companies.
Participation is free of charge, and registration via the official website is mandatory. Places are limited and usually booked up weeks before the event. Bus transfer is included.
