Four concert evenings in the historic castle courtyard of Burgau — Bavarian Evening, Newcomer Stage, Rock Night, and Italian Night
Burgau is a town in the District of Günzburg in the Bavarian administrative region of Swabia, located on the Mindel river between Augsburg and Ulm. The Kultursommer is its musical summer highlight: for four consecutive evenings, the historic Schlosshof becomes an open-air stage. Each evening has its own musical character — from Bavarian cabaret to promoting newcomers, rock, and Mediterranean sounds.
The Bayernabend (Bavarian Evening) opens the Kultursommer with anarchic musical cabaret — humorous, tongue-in-cheek explorations of Bavarian musical tradition; traditionally, the audience is welcome to bring their own picnic. Next Wave showcases young regional artists with their own compositions across multiple genres — a stage for emerging talent. The Rocknacht (Rock Night) is dedicated to a rock cover band that plays rock classics straightforwardly and with technical skill. The Italienische Nacht (Italian Night) concludes the series with Mediterranean sounds and a DJ to round off the evening.
The venue is the Schlosshof of Burgau, an atmospheric area enclosed by historic walls in the heart of the old town. In case of unfavorable weather, the festival moves to the Kapuziner-Halle, ensuring the concerts can take place regardless of the weather.
The organizer is the Cultural Office of the City of Burgau. Tickets are available as combination tickets for all evenings or as individual tickets — online via Reservix, at local ticket outlets (Buchhandlung Pfob, Wachszieherei Bader), and at the Cultural Office on Gerichtsweg.
The small town of Burgau, with its castle and medieval old town, is picturesquely situated in the Mindeltal valley. The Kultursommer is an expression of a vibrant cultural life in rural Swabia and a fixed date in the event calendar of the Günzburg district.
The 11th edition has been confirmed by the Burgau Cultural Office for June 10 to 13, 2026, in the castle courtyard. Over four consecutive evenings, the festival presents four musical styles — from the anarchic Bavarian Evening to the Next Wave newcomer stage, the Rock Night, and the Italian Night. The Kapuziner-Halle is the alternative venue in case of bad weather. The combo ticket for all four evenings costs €60.
