About Kulturkick
Kulturkick — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Kulturkick starts on January 23rd with the jazz festival Sparks & Visions and ends in April. As in previous years, the programme spans all genres: Music (jazz, classical, operetta), Visual Arts (RE.LIGHT, INFINITY), Theatre (Bavarian Theatre Days, spoken theatre at the City Theatre), and Film (Short Film Week, HARD:LINE).
The immersive light art installation INFINITY Regensburg in the Minoritenkirche, which has been running since November 2025, can still be seen until February 1st, 2026. From March 12th to 22nd, RE.LIGHT transforms the Old Town into an open-air gallery for light installations and mapping projections. Premieres from the current schedule of the Regensburg Theatre flank the festival programme — including Polnische Hochzeit (February 7th), Die Schattenpräsidentinnen (February 21st), and Alcina (March 21st).

Spring Culture Under One Roof
Kulturkick Regensburg is not a classic festival, but a joint marketing umbrella: Since 2022, the city has been bundling all cultural events taking place between January and April in the World Heritage City under this label. Initiated by Regensburg Tourismus GmbH in cooperation with the Cultural Department, Kulturkick aims to strengthen the touristically rather weak winter months and at the same time give the local audience an overview of the diverse programme.
Diversity from Jazz to Light Art
A wide variety of formats gather under this umbrella. Among the best known are the international jazz festival Sparks & Visions, the light art festival RE.LIGHT (light installations in the Old Town), the immersive show INFINITY Regensburg in the Minoritenkirche, the Bavarian Theatre Days, the International Short Film Week Regensburg, the film festival HARD:LINE, the Drumweekend Regensburg and premieres from the current schedule of the Regensburg Theatre — from operetta and opera to spoken theatre.
City, Venues and Atmosphere
The stage is the World Heritage Old Town with its over 1,500 listed buildings — the Minoritenkirche, the Regensburg Theatre, the Donaubühne, the Velodrom, the Garbo cinema and many other venues are used. For RE.LIGHT's light installations, the city itself becomes the stage: facades, bridges, squares and alleys host the installations.
Regensburg — World Heritage on the Danube
Regensburg, with almost 160,000 inhabitants, is the capital of the Upper Palatinate administrative region in the state of Bavaria, located at the northernmost point of the Danube and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The medieval Old Town with its Stone Bridge, Cathedral and landmarks such as the Golden Tower provides an extraordinary setting for a spring cultural programme. Kulturkick consistently leverages this aura.
