KulTSommer Traunstein 2026 runs from June 23 to September 8, 2026, on the Stadtplatz Traunstein. 27 evenings, around 135 performances, three fixed weekdays (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) with different music genres. Opening on June 23 with an open-air concert by Stadtmusik Traunstein and Michael Alf Trio, closing on September 8 with three brass bands.

The 2026 edition spans eleven weeks and offers the full program of the series: traditional brass band music on Tuesdays, casual music mix on Wednesdays, cool grooves on Thursdays. Throughout the summer, musicians from Bavaria, the neighboring Salzburg region, and internationally perform.

Special highlights include the Day of the Associations on July 5 and the Italian Night on July 25. The opening on June 23 and the season finale on September 8 are also established as fixed highlights.

The Stadtplatz Becomes the Stage

KulTSommer Traunstein is the most important open-air concert series in the Upper Bavarian district town. From late June to early September, musicians and bands from the region, from all over Bavaria, and internationally perform every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday directly on the historic Stadtplatz. A total of around 135 performances on 27 evenings make KulTSommer one of the most frequent open-air series in the Chiemgau region.

Three Days a Week, Three Music Styles

The program follows a fixed schedule:

Wednesdays 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM: »Casual Music Mix« – Cover bands, acoustic, singer-songwriters
Thursdays 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM: »Cool Grooves« – Jazz, Funk, Soul, Latin

Special Highlights

Two themed evenings add accents to the program: the Day of the Associations at the beginning of July, when the town's club life takes over the Stadtplatz, and the Italian Night at the end of July with Mediterranean sounds and specialties. KulTSommer traditionally opens with a grand open-air concert by the Stadtmusik Traunstein and a performance by the Michael Alf Trio; the season concludes with three brass bands for the finale.

Gastronomy and Enjoyment

Deck chairs and folding chairs are available free of charge. You can bring food and drinks from the surrounding restaurants and cafes – a relaxed, very Bavarian open-air approach.

Traunstein as the Gateway to the Chiemgau

Traunstein is located in the Traunstein district in southeastern Upper Bavaria, about 100 km east of Munich. The town is the gateway to the Chiemgau and its lakes and offers a charming combination of a historic old town, Alpine tradition, and a growing cultural scene in the summer.
