Art market with Sunday shopping in the historic old town of Burgsteinfurt
With kunSTvoll, Steinfurt Erleben GmbH sets a cultural highlight in the historic old town of Burgsteinfurt, the western district of Steinfurt, once a year. Artists, artisans, and cultural creators exhibit their works on a Sunday – painting, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, textile art, printmaking. Admission is free, and stand rental for artists is free.
Burgsteinfurt is the heart of the twin town of Steinfurt in the northern Münsterland region. The old town, with its castle, the half-timbered buildings on the market square, and the Great Church, forms an extraordinary backdrop for an art market. The Wasserburg Steinfurt (moated castle) is one of the largest moated castles in northwestern Germany and has been the seat of the Princes of Bentheim and Steinfurt since the 12th century – a visit after the market is worthwhile.
Parallel to kunSTvoll, the retailers of Burgsteinfurt's old town open their shops on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event thus combines artistic enjoyment with shopping and gastronomy – a proven concept from the Münsterland region that appeals equally to families and cultural travelers.
Steinfurt is the district capital and is located in the extreme northwest of North Rhine-Westphalia, on the border with Lower Saxony. The twin town of Burgsteinfurt and Borghorst has around 35,000 inhabitants. The Netherlands (Enschede approx. 30 minutes by car), Münster (35 minutes by car), and the Tecklenburger Land region are easily accessible for day trips – an ideal stopover for a round trip through the Münsterland.
In contrast to commercial antique or flea markets, kunSTvoll focuses on original artistic creations. Exhibitors apply in advance, and Steinfurt Erleben GmbH provides the stand space free of charge. This creates a genuine DIY atmosphere and avoids commercial uniformity.
The 2026 edition confirms the event-day character of kunSTvoll: one Sunday, the entire old town, free stand rental for artists. The exact exhibitors will be published on the Steinfurt Erleben website shortly before the date.
Note: The complete list of 2026 exhibitors will be published by Steinfurt Erleben GmbH a few weeks before the date on steinfurt-erleben.com.
