About kunSTvoll

kunSTvoll transforms the historic old town of Burgsteinfurt into an Eldorado of art and crafts on May 3, 2026. Artists, cultural creators, and craftspeople present their works in an urban open-air market – nestled between the castle, half-timbered facades, and the Hofgarten. The event day combines an art market with Sunday shopping in the Münsterland district of Steinfurt.

An Event Day in the Heart of the Old Town

With kunSTvoll, Steinfurt Erleben GmbH sets a cultural highlight in the historic old town of Burgsteinfurt, the western district of Steinfurt, once a year. Artists, artisans, and cultural creators exhibit their works on a Sunday – painting, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, textile art, printmaking. Admission is free, and stand rental for artists is free.

Burgsteinfurt — A Historic Setting

Burgsteinfurt is the heart of the twin town of Steinfurt in the northern Münsterland region. The old town, with its castle, the half-timbered buildings on the market square, and the Great Church, forms an extraordinary backdrop for an art market. The Wasserburg Steinfurt (moated castle) is one of the largest moated castles in northwestern Germany and has been the seat of the Princes of Bentheim and Steinfurt since the 12th century – a visit after the market is worthwhile.

Combination of Art Market + Sunday Shopping

Parallel to kunSTvoll, the retailers of Burgsteinfurt's old town open their shops on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event thus combines artistic enjoyment with shopping and gastronomy – a proven concept from the Münsterland region that appeals equally to families and cultural travelers.

Steinfurt in the Steinfurt District

Steinfurt is the district capital and is located in the extreme northwest of North Rhine-Westphalia, on the border with Lower Saxony. The twin town of Burgsteinfurt and Borghorst has around 35,000 inhabitants. The Netherlands (Enschede approx. 30 minutes by car), Münster (35 minutes by car), and the Tecklenburger Land region are easily accessible for day trips – an ideal stopover for a round trip through the Münsterland.

Artists at the Center

In contrast to commercial antique or flea markets, kunSTvoll focuses on original artistic creations. Exhibitors apply in advance, and Steinfurt Erleben GmbH provides the stand space free of charge. This creates a genuine DIY atmosphere and avoids commercial uniformity.

kunSTvoll — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of kunSTvoll Steinfurt takes place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 11 AM to 6 PM in the historic old town of Burgsteinfurt. Artists, artisans, and cultural creators present their works; in parallel, retailers open their shops from 1 PM to 6 PM.

The 2026 edition confirms the event-day character of kunSTvoll: one Sunday, the entire old town, free stand rental for artists. The exact exhibitors will be published on the Steinfurt Erleben website shortly before the date.
