Bürgerstiftung Ludwigshafen
The Bürgerstiftung Ludwigshafen is a non-profit foundation that supports social, cultural, and educational projects in the city through donations, endowments, and citizen engagement. Areas of support include, among others, child and youth development, educational sponsorships, integration projects, and cultural initiatives for the socially disadvantaged. The annual benefit jazz concert is one of its most popular events, combining cultural experience with concrete social commitment.
Menna Mulugeta: Jazz with Soul and Groove
Singer Menna Mulugeta combines classic jazz with soul, funk, and urban contemporary sounds in her repertoire. Her voice – velvety and powerful at the same time – works just as well in an intimate courtyard concert as on larger stages. For the open-air event in the Freischwimmer courtyard, she has put together a program that fits the relaxed summer atmosphere: groovy standards, selected originals, and small stylistic journeys through the jazz repertoire.
Freischwimmer: Courtyard as Open-Air Stage
The Freischwimmer at Pettenkoferstraße 9 is a gastronomically and culturally used venue in Ludwigshafen-Friesenheim. Its courtyard offers an exceptionally atmospheric open-air setting: sheltered, manageable, with the acoustic quality of a small, semi-enclosed space. It is precisely this atmosphere that makes the concert an intimate experience – far from the anonymity of large open-air stages.
Hat Concert: Free Admission, Proceeds for Good Causes
The concept of the hat concert is very simple: Admission is free, and a hat is passed around at the exit or between sets, into which everyone donates according to their own discretion. This format lowers the entry barrier as much as possible and leaves the appreciation to the audience. The entire proceeds benefit Bürgerstiftung Ludwigshafen and thus its funding projects.
