About Eurener Kirmes

The Eurener St. Helena Kirmes is the traditional parish fair of Trier's Euren district, celebrated annually at the end of August in honor of the parish's patron saint, Saint Helena. This family folk festival spans St. Helena Street and surrounding areas, offering amusement rides, food stalls, a festival tent with live music, and a religious festival program centered around the parish church. A 'Nachkirmes' (follow-up fair) at the end of August concludes the event. Free admission.

Euren is a western district of Trier on the Moselle, which has largely retained its village character despite its incorporation into the city. St. Helena Parish Church forms the spiritual and social center of the district; its patron saint Helena – mother of Constantine the Great and, according to Roman Catholic tradition, the finder of the True Cross – is also closely linked to Trier's city history, as legend has it she brought the Holy Shroud to Trier.

The Kirmes combines the religious veneration of Saint Helena with the typical program of a Rhineland-Moselle parish fair: High Mass on Sunday, procession, stage program with live bands and dance music, carousels, shooting galleries, food stalls, and a festival tent with ample seating. St. Helena Street will be closed to traffic.

With the Nachkirmes a week later, a typical Rhineland custom, the festival is formally concluded – a tradition that lives on in many Trier and Eifel districts and allows for an additional weekend of neighborly gathering.

Eurener Kirmes — edition 2026

The Eurener St. Helena Kirmes 2026 runs from Friday, August 21, to Sunday, August 23, 2026, on St. Helena Street in Trier's Euren district. A Nachkirmes follows on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Attractions include amusement rides, food stalls, a festival tent with live music, and a religious festival program in St. Helena Parish Church. Free admission.

The 2026 edition follows the proven structure of a Rhineland parish fair. St. Helena Street will be closed to motorized traffic throughout the weekend; the stage, festival tent, carousels, and food stalls will be set up in front of the rectory and along the street. The religious program centered around St. Helena Parish Church complements the secular festivities.
