North Germany's large leisure experience fair for travel, camping, caravans, outdoor, and bicycles
The ABF — Ab in den Frühling — is one of North Germany's oldest and most established leisure fairs. It takes place annually in February, strategically utilizing the period when many North Germans begin planning their summer and autumn trips. The organizer is Fachausstellungen Heckmann GmbH, which has been developing the trade fair format for decades and adapting it to changes in travel behavior.
The exhibition program is divided into several worlds. Travel and Tourism: Tourism associations from Germany, Europe, and overseas, tour operators, specialized providers for active, family, single, and senior travel. Camping and Caravans: Motorhome and caravan manufacturers present the latest models, from compact camper vans to luxury liners. Outdoor and Hiking: Clothing brands, tents, sleeping bags, trekking shoes, navigation devices. Bicycles and E-Bikes: Manufacturers, dealers, workshops, tour operators. Water Sports: Boats, kayaks, SUPs, diving, sailing trips. Sports and Activities: Fitness, yoga, running, climbing.
Simultaneously, the B.I.G. fair will take place at the exhibition grounds, covering the themes of Building, Real Estate, and Garden. With an ABF ticket, both fairs are accessible — an ideal combination for those who want to tackle not only their vacation in the spring but also their house, garden, or real estate plans. Plant exhibitions, garden furniture, pools, saunas, solar systems, smart home solutions, and architect consultations are just some of the topics.
Several stages spread across the exhibition grounds offer a dense program of lectures and shows. Travel lectures on destinations worldwide, camping workshops, bicycle tests, outdoor demos, cooking shows with regional specialties, live music. Program details will be communicated on abf-hannover.de and on the boards on-site.
For families, there is a dedicated area with activities for children, carousels, bouncy castles, and child-friendly hands-on stations. Several catering providers ensure refreshments with regional specialties, snack options, and cafés.
The Hannover Exhibition Centre is one of the largest and most modern in the world. It is easily accessible by tram (line 8) from the main train station and connected by car via the A2 and A37 motorways. Ample parking is available.
