A Young Tradition from Kronau

The Kronau Village Festival International is a young tradition: 2026 marks only the second edition. The municipality of Kronau in the Karlsruhe district launched the format in 2025 to celebrate the diversity of local clubs, the culinary internationality of the community, and the social integration of village life under one roof. The festival is concentrated at Forsthof and on the Dorfplatz – not an expansive festival mile, but a condensed community gathering for the entire village.

From Keg Tapping to Sunday Shopping

Saturday, May 16, 2026, begins at 3:30 PM with the keg tapping ceremony by Mayor Frank Burkard. From 5:30 PM, the band Happy Hour will perform on stage – a concert for the whole family that carries the festival evening late into the night. The food offerings are dominated by international specialties: the 12 participating clubs will offer dishes from various regions and nations – from an Italian pasta stand to Greek souvlaki and regional Baden specialties.

Sunday, May 17, 2026, opens at 11 AM with the morning pint (Frühschoppen) by the Harmonie music association starting at 11:30 AM. Simultaneously, the flea market will take place in the parking lot of the multi-purpose hall. From 1 PM, the Sunday shopping begins in Kronau (until 6 PM) – many local shops will open their doors and complement the village festival with special events. Children can play on the carousel at the multi-purpose hall and in the play area of the ALL4ONE youth center; an ice cream stand and small snack booths complete the offerings.

Twelve Clubs – From Sports Club to DRK

Around 12 Kronau clubs and organizations participate in the village festival – spanning the spectrum of associations: sports club, carnival society, dog club, choir, other cultural associations, the Volunteer Fire Brigade (which will display its vehicles), and the German Red Cross (DRK). The diversity of clubs is programmatic – it reflects the vibrancy of village life and makes the festival more than just a gastronomy and music event: an annually recurring showcase of the Kronau community.

Kronau in the Karlsruhe District

Kronau is a municipality with around 6,000 inhabitants in the Karlsruhe district, in the state of Baden-Württemberg, located in the Upper Rhine Plain between Bruchsal and Wiesloch. The municipality is known regionally for its location on the edge of the Kraichgau and for the Sportwelt Kronau – the modern training facility of the Bundesliga handball club Rhein-Neckar Löwen is located in Kronau. The Village Festival International marks a growing attempt by the municipality to build an independent cultural profile beyond its sports identity.
