37th Hardtsee-Triathlon — traditional triathlon in the Kraichgau, part of the Badischer Triathlon Cup
On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the 37th edition of the Hardtsee-Triathlon will start in Ubstadt-Weiher. The organizer is the traditional club TSV Ubstadt e.V., which has been organizing the event since the late 1980s. The triathlon festival is one of the oldest and most established sporting events in the Kraichgau and is an official race of the Badischer Triathlon Cup.
The Hardtsee originated as a gravel pit lake and is now one of the most popular local recreation areas between Bruchsal and Heidelberg. Its clear water, shallow shores, and sunbathing lawns make it the perfect stage for the swimming leg. The cycling course then leads through the rolling Kraichgau landscape with its vineyards and orchards, and the run is completed in the park around the lake.
The Hardtsee-Triathlon is aimed at both active athletes and hobby athletes. Typically, there are competitions over the taster distance (375 m swimming / 20 km cycling / 5 km running), the Olympic distance (1,500 m / 40 km / 10 km), as well as relay competitions and categories for pupils/juniors. Families can start with their children in the pupil competitions — the exact distances and start times will be announced in the official entry details on the website.
Online registration is already open at anmeldung-triathlon.tsv-ubstadt.de. The event counts towards the Badischer Triathlon Cup (badentricup.de), in which athletes from clubs throughout the Baden region participate. On the results page of the website, you will find results from previous years, a participant overview, and an FAQ.
With around 13,000 inhabitants, Ubstadt-Weiher is located in the southern district of Karlsruhe, between Bruchsal and Bad Schönborn. The municipality consists of the districts Ubstadt, Weiher, Stettfeld, and Zeutern; the Hardtsee belongs to the Weiher district. The Kraichgau is the traditional fruit basket of Baden-Württemberg — a gently rolling landscape where asparagus, strawberries, wine, and apple juice play an important role. After the competition, a trip to the nearby Odenheim monastery church or the Bruchsal City Museum is worthwhile.
