District Music Festival Waidhaus – 40 Years of the Music Association

Brass Band Music in the Oberpfalz

Brass band music is deeply rooted in Bavarian festival culture, and in the market town of Waidhaus in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district (Bavaria state), it is cherished by the Waidhaus Music Association. In 2026, the association celebrates its 40th anniversary and will host the district music festival of the Neustadt/WN district for this occasion – a significant gathering of the region's brass bands.

The Star March

The musical centerpiece is the star march: Several brass bands from the district and surrounding areas march in a star pattern from different directions towards the central festival grounds. There, they unite to form a large joint choir – a sonorous experience that impressively demonstrates the unity of the music associations.

Anniversary Celebration Day

For its 40th anniversary, the Waidhaus Music Association is organizing a grand celebration day featuring all its musical ensembles. The festival will be accompanied by a music fair with numerous exhibitors showcasing instruments, sheet music, and association life. The schoolyard and sports field of Waidhaus will provide the festive setting.
