The Sternenmarkt — Beverungen's Third Advent

The Sternenmarkt is the winter heart of Beverungen. On the third weekend of Advent, the Rathausplatz transforms into a compact, festively lit village — not a giant backdrop, but a contemplative market with a local character and dedicated clubs.

Traditionally, the Sternenmarkt takes place on the third weekend of Advent. In 2026, this is expected to be Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13, 2026. Official confirmation will be published in autumn 2026 on the website of the city and Beverungen Marketing e.V.

Opening and Stage Program

On Saturday at 4:00 PM, the market will be ceremoniously opened by Mayor Tino Wenkel. Immediately afterwards, Beverungen dance groups will showcase their skills on the small stage — guard, show, and children's dances will dominate the program. Further musical contributions will follow in the evening — choirs, brass ensembles, and the local trombone choir.

Six Stalls, a Shared Character

Unlike the large Christmas markets of the metropolises, the Sternenmarkt operates with only six stalls — but all are lovingly decorated and staffed by local actors:

• Beverungen Fire Brigade: Roast pork and bratwurst from the wood grill
• Carnival Club: Mulled wine, children's punch, non-alcoholic hot drinks
• Bakery: Waffles, cookies, stollen
• Local History Society: Craft and game corner for children
• Club Stalls: Regularly changing local clubs with handicrafts, homemade items, Christmas decorations

Sunday — Family Time

Sunday is dedicated to family: craft activities for children, a Punch and Judy show, readings of Christmas stories in one of the huts, and for the adults, more mulled wine and punch in the quiet, contemplative atmosphere of the small market. An "Après-Ski" mood on Saturday evening contrasts with the quieter Sunday.

Beverungen — Three-Country Corner in the Middle of Germany

Beverungen is located in the southernmost part of the Höxter district, directly on the Weser river and at the three-country corner of North Rhine-Westphalia / Lower Saxony / Hesse. With just over 13,000 inhabitants, it is a typical small town — manageable, rich in tradition, with its own festivals instead of imported concepts. The Sternenmarkt is an expression of this character.
