100 Years of Brass Music in Upper Swabia
Schemmerberg is one of the districts of Schemmerhofen in the Upper Swabian district of Biberach. The Musikverein Cäcilia Schemmerberg, founded in 1926, celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026 — and is hosting the Kreismusikfest of the Biberach District Brass Music Association for this occasion. The four-day program runs from Friday, May 22, to Whit Monday, May 25, 2026, on the Schemmerberg festival grounds in the direction of Obersulmetingen.
KreisBRASSabend with Three Top Bands
The highlight of the festival days is the KreisBRASSabend on Saturday, May 23, 2026, featuring three of the most renowned modern brass bands in Southern Germany: Brotäne Herdepfl, the "Brass Dance Party" combo from Upper Swabia since 2018; Pomm Fritz, returning to their brass roots after 43 years; and Druckluft, a high-energy brass ensemble from Cologne. Three styles, three generations, one evening — this is Kreismusikfest at the peak of the modern brass music scene.
Festival Parade on Whit Sunday
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, the traditional festival parade starts at 1:30 PM. Music associations, traditional costume groups, and clubs from the entire Biberach district and neighboring districts march with their bands, floats, and flag bearers through Schemmerberg. Beforehand, there will be a choir performance on the village square at 1:00 PM; after the parade, the band "In Motion" will perform as the evening program in the festival tent.
Opening and Closing
The Kreismusikfest opens on Friday, May 22, 2026: Senior citizens' afternoon at 1:30 PM, beer tapping at 5:00 PM with the Zimmerer Kapelle, evening program with the bands Ehgnerländer and Albkracher. On Whit Monday, May 25, 2026, the festival concludes: 9:30 AM festive church service, followed by a Frühschoppen with traditional festival tent music and a family program.
Schemmerberg, Schemmerhofen, and the Biberach Music District
Schemmerhofen, with nearly 6,000 inhabitants, is located in the Biberach district in the Upper Swabian state of Baden-Württemberg, at the transition between the Danube-Iller region and the Swabian Jura. The Biberach district has a particularly dense brass music scene with dozens of active music associations — the annual Kreismusikfest rotates through the associations; in 2026, the Musikverein Cäcilia Schemmerberg has the honor of hosting, which also marks its own anniversary. A rare double significance that makes the festival special.

Getting There
Schemmerhofen-Schemmerberg is located on the B 30 between Ulm and Biberach. By car via the B 30 (Schemmerberg exit) or the A 7 (Memmingen) and the B 312. By train via Biberach (Württembergische Allgäubahn), from there by bus or taxi. Parking available at the festival grounds and in side streets.
