Four days of Pentecost festival on the Neptunwiese
Quellendorf is located in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district as a part of the town of Südliches Anhalt – a village of around 800 inhabitants that holds a surprisingly prominent place in Saxony-Anhalt's Pentecost calendar. Responsible for this is the Dorfclub Quellendorf e.V., a community association that has been organizing the “Kleene Pfingsten” Pentecost festival on the Neptunwiese for years – a four-day spectacle that sets an entire village in motion.
The festival weekend begins on Pentecost Friday with the traditional “Maienrichten” (Maypole erection) – young birch trees are felled in the forest and erected on the Neptunwiese. This is followed by a Maypole procession with brass music, a lantern and light ceremony, and the first dance evening with a DJ and laser show. Pentecost Saturday is the highlight day: a grand vintage car parade in the morning, a bowling tournament in the afternoon, a children's program with the show group “Crazy Angels,” king's shooting for the title of Village King, and a live concert in the evening with the band “Tick2Loud.” Pentecost Sunday brings a family program with dance groups, children's painting stations, brass music, and demonstrations by the volunteer fire department. Pentecost Monday concludes the festival with the bowling tournament finals, an afternoon coffee gathering, and dancing with “Ulf's kleine Blasmusik.”
The Neptunwiese – a central meadow plot on the outskirts of Quellendorf – serves as the festival ground, concert stage, dance lounge, and children's paradise for these four days. A festival tent, a stage, several refreshment stands, bouncy castles, and temporary toilets are set up. Admission is free – the festival is financed by stall revenues, sponsors, and club membership fees.
In the state of Saxony-Anhalt, Pentecost remains one of the liveliest festival periods of the year. “Kleene Pfingsten” in Quellendorf is a flagship event, comparable to the Pentecost festival in Thaldorf near Querfurt or the Pentecost festival in Steigra – rural festival culture at its finest: community-driven, intergenerational, unpretentious.
The four-day Pentecost program 2026 follows the proven format of the Dorfclub Quellendorf. Live music will be provided by the band “Tick2Loud” on Pentecost Saturday and “Ulf's kleine Blasmusik” on Pentecost Monday. Detailed times and additional acts will be published on the website in spring 2026.
