The Schützengesellschaft der Stadt Freren e.V. was founded in 1722 — a time when shooting associations were established in many Emsland towns. With over 300 years of association history, the society is one of the oldest shooting associations in the Freren collective municipality and has always shaped the town's community life.

Three Festival Days with Detailed Program

Saturday, June 6, 2026 — DJ Xplosion (Free Admission)

From 7:30 PM, DJ Xplosion will be playing on the Schützenplatz. Admission to this dance party is free — a hallmark of the Schützengesellschaft, making the opening evening particularly accessible.

Sunday, June 7, 2026 — Parade at 2 PM

The highlight of Sunday is the grand parade at 2 PM through Freren. With marching bands, association flags, royal dignitaries, and friendly associations, the society marches through the town — a colorful spectacle and a central program point.

Monday, June 8, 2026 — Main Festival Day

• 5:00 AM: Wake-up call — the association members call the town to the festival day with drums and trumpets
• 1:30 PM: Eagle shooting — the traditional bird shooting, where the new shooting king is determined
• 6:45 PM: Crowning of the new shooting king
• Subsequently: Ball with Orchester Celebration — free admission

Orchester Celebration — Live Music at its Finest

The Orchester Celebration is a well-known dance and show band that regularly performs at large Schützenfeste in Northern Germany. With pop, Schlager, dance classics, and live performances, the orchestra ensures a festive king's ball evening that traditionally goes late into the night.
