Classic spring Volksfest on the Rastatt fairground with carousels, roller coasters, shooting galleries, and Family Day
The Rastatt Spring Fair is a classic South German folk fair — a family tradition for generations, a central event in the spring calendar of the Baroque city. The fair is organized by the City of Rastatt. The fairground by the Murg river transforms into a complete amusement park for five days, featuring everything associated with a classic fair.
During the Spring Fair, the Rastatt fairground offers:
• Major Rides — Roller coaster, haunted house, swing carousel, Ferris wheel
• Carousels — Children's carousel, horse carousel, up-and-down rides
• Shooting galleries and game stalls
• Candy Stalls — Gingerbread hearts, cotton candy, candied almonds, spiced gingerbread
• Snack Stands — Bratwurst, fries, crêpes, steaks, pizza
• Beer tent and catering
On Friday, April 24, starting at 5 p.m., the official keg tapping ceremony with the city leadership will take place; the first 30 minutes offer free rides on several major attractions.
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, it's Family Day: Reduced prices apply to rides and stalls (often -30% to -50% on all rides and food). This makes the fair an affordable family event — many parents deliberately use Family Day to take their children to the amusement park.
Rastatt (district town of Rastatt district, AGS 08216, around 51,000 inhabitants) is located in the Upper Rhine Plain between Karlsruhe and Baden-Baden. The city is famous for its Baroque Residential Palace — the largest Baroque palace on the Upper Rhine, once the residence of the Margraves of Baden-Baden. With the Spring Fair in April and the Autumn Fair in October, Rastatt hosts two classic folk fairs annually — an example of the close connection between Baroque city culture and South German folk festival tradition.
From Friday, April 24, to Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the Rastatt fairground will once again become a classic folk festival area. The Spring Fair — a tradition for centuries — brings carousels, roller coasters, shooting galleries, candy stalls, and snack stands to the Baroque city on the Upper Rhine.
The opening takes place on Friday, April 24, at 5 p.m. with a keg tapping ceremony and the mayor's speech — the first 30 minutes offer free rides on several large carousels. Tuesday, April 28, is Family Day: Reduced prices at rides and stalls make the fair an affordable family outing.
