Familiengarten Eberswalde — Fortress ruins as a concert backdrop

The Familiengarten Eberswalde was created in 2002 on the site of the former Eberswalde industrial facility "Walzwerk". With its open-air stage, animal enclosure, and extensive park, it is now a central recreational and event venue in the district town. The Klassik Open Air, a summer concert for all generations, takes place every year on the open-air stage — Am Alten Walzwerk 1.

Brandenburgisches Konzertorchester Eberswalde

The Brandenburgisches Konzertorchester Eberswalde (BKE) is the only professional orchestra in Brandenburg outside of Potsdam. It was founded in 1994 and is now a fixture in the region's concert life. The artistic director is Jens Georg Bachmann, who conducts the orchestra in a wide repertoire — from symphonic works and operettas to film music.

Program: Waltzes, Film Music, Evergreens

The Klassik Open Air 2026 focuses on popular classical music with a distinct family focus. The program includes Viennese waltzes, film music, and 20th-century evergreens — "melodies to dance and clap along to," as the organizer puts it. Vocal soloists enhance the concert with arias and songs. The performance is scheduled for about 90 minutes and begins at 3:00 PM, making it accessible even for families with young children.

Classical Music and City Culture in the Barnim District

Eberswalde has positioned itself as a culturally active district town in the Barnim district for years. The Klassik Open Air complements the city's series of festivals and concerts: Eberswalde Film Days, classical concerts in the town church, the Eberswalde Christmas Market. With the open-air stage in the Familiengarten as its venue, the city combines classical music with the typical summer open-air experience.
