Stadtfest der Waldstadt mit zwei Bühnen und Straßentheater
Eberswalde is the district town of Barnim, about 50 kilometers northeast of Berlin. With its approximately 41,000 inhabitants and over 60 percent forest area within the city limits, it officially bears the nickname "Waldstadt" (Forest City). The town combines a historical industrial past (Messingwerk, Eisenspaltwerk), the University for Sustainable Development, and an exciting location on the Finow Canal and the Oder-Havel Canal. The Stadtfest „FinE" is one of the annual highlights in the Eberswalde calendar.
The festival name „FinE" stands for "Freuden in Eberswalde" (Joys in Eberswalde) and has for years designated the annual city festival on the first weekend of June. Organized by the City of Eberswalde, the festival shapes the city center with two stages, market stalls, gastronomy, and street art. Free admission.
The musical program is spread across two stages in the city center and ranges from pop and rock to jazz and classical music, as well as folk music. A regular highlight is the performance by the Brandenburgisches Konzertorchester Eberswalde and young musicians from the Eberswalde Music School. Street theater and acrobatics add extra color to the city center — Board Walk Theater with acrobatic shows and soap bubble artists perform on Marktstraße.
Eberswalde's close connection to the forest is reflected in the city festival: a high quality of stay, short distances, a relaxed festival atmosphere. Those who combine the festival with a longer visit can explore the Finow Canal Valley, the Family Garden area of the Eberswalde Recreation Park, or Zoo Eberswalde — and for train enthusiasts, a ride on the narrow-gauge railway of the Familiengarten-Verein is worthwhile. Eberswalde is an hour's train ride from Berlin and is directly accessible via RE3. The University for Sustainable Development with its striking campus, the Zainhammer Mill, and the Hubertushütte are further attractions that enrich a day in the Forest City.
On Thursday, June 4, 2026, the city center of Eberswalde will transform into a large festival area. The Stadtfest „FinE" — "Freuden in Eberswalde" (Joys in Eberswalde) — offers a packed day program with music, street theater, acrobatics, and gastronomy.
Two stages will present music of various genres — pop, rock, jazz, classical. Highlights include the performance by the Brandenburgisches Konzertorchester Eberswalde and performances by young musicians from the Eberswalde Music School. Street theater, acrobats, and soap bubble artists will liven up the city center.
