About Kirmes Niederwiesa

The Kirmes Niederwiesa is the traditional autumn Volksfest (popular festival) of the municipality in the Mittelsachsen district. For three days, showman attractions, rides, musical entertainment, and food and drinks transform the Lösergut into a colorful festival meadow – a family festival with Erzgebirge influences on the banks of the Zschopau.

Kirchweih at Lösergut

The Kirmes Niederwiesa continues a centuries-old Saxon tradition: the Kirchweih (church consecration festival), which marks the transition from summer to autumn in the villages of the Erzgebirge and Mittelsachsen regions. The venue is the Lösergut, a historic estate in Niederwiesa, which now serves as an event location. Niederwiesa is located directly north of the town of Flöha and belongs to the Mittelsachsen district.

Showman Attractions and Community

For three days, classic folk festival elements characterize the event:

  • Rides for families (carousels, swing boats, dodgems, depending on the showman's offerings)
  • Musical Entertainment in the evening with local bands and dance music
  • Gastronomy: Bratwurst, beer, crêpes, candied almonds, fries – everything that belongs to a German Kirmes
  • Stalls of local clubs, which support the festival and make the village life visible

Between the Erzgebirge Foothills and the Zschopau Valley

Niederwiesa is nestled between the last foothills of the Erzgebirge and the Zschopau valley. Visitors to the Kirmes can combine their stay with hikes at the Niederwiesa natural swimming pool or a trip to the nearby Lichtenwalde Castle – a Baroque complex with extensive castle grounds.
