Whitsun wine tasting with five Hambach wineries and wine-cheese-chocolate pairings with a view of the cathedral
CuliVino — Culinary Wine Enjoyment Hambach is one of the most sophisticated Palatinate Whitsun wine events. Unlike boisterous street wine festivals, CuliVino focuses on concentrated, culinarily discerning tasting at a single selected location: the Domblick in Hambach with an unobstructed view of Hambach Castle.
The 2026 edition takes place on Whitsun weekend from Saturday, May 23rd to Monday, May 25th. Over three days, five renowned Hambach wineries will present their ranges: Ludwig Döring, Johann Müller, Martin Nickel, Rupolph, and Sommer — five producers with different stylistic signatures and vineyard sites around Hambach.
The special concept is the pairing with cheese and chocolate: the wines are not tasted in isolation, but in accompanying taste combinations. A Riesling with mature hard cheese, a Pinot Noir with dark chocolate, a rosé wine with cream cheese — such pairings open up new taste worlds for Palatinate wine lovers and make CuliVino more than just a tasting.
The location at the Domblick, with a view of the famous Hambach Castle — a symbol of the 1832 German democratic movement — provides a special setting for the event. Whitsun is not a random choice of date: the usually warm and stable May summer days allow for tasting outdoors under the open sky and fully enjoying the atmosphere of the Palatinate vineyards.
CuliVino is aimed at wine connoisseurs and gourmets who are looking for a concentrated Palatinate experience beyond mass tourism. The limitation to a few carefully selected producers and the ambitious pairing concept make the festival a hidden gem among Palatinate insiders.
The 2026 edition of CuliVino on Whitsun weekend, May 23rd to 25th, continues the proven concept: concentrated tasting by five Hambach wineries with culinary pairings.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the established cornerstones of previous years: tasting stations open from late morning to evening, free movement between the five wineries, tasting offers with cheese and chocolate pairings, and small Palatinate snacks complementing the wine program.
