For decades, TSV Niederviehbach has been inviting to the Kirchweihvolksfest on the festival meadow of the Lower Bavarian monastery community. For four days, everything revolves around brass music, festival beer from the Wittmann brewery, sporting competitions, and convivial get-togethers against the backdrop of Niederviehbach Monastery. The event traditionally begins with a concert in front of the Klosterbauhof, followed by a procession to the festival meadow and a beer tapping ceremony by the mayor. Tennis, football, Bavarian skittles (Stockschießen), beach volleyball, a Schafkopf tournament, a children's and seniors' afternoon, and a hike round off the program.

The Kirchweihvolksfest Niederviehbach 2026 runs from Friday, August 14th to Monday, August 17th, 2026, on the festival meadow. It is the 49th edition of the TSV Niederviehbach's Volksfest. Getting There

Niederviehbach is located in the Dingolfing-Landau district in Lower Bavaria, accessible via state roads from Dingolfing and Landshut. The festival meadow is on the outskirts of the village; parking is available.

Admission

Access to the festival grounds and the tent is free. Payment is required for festival beer (around €9–10 per liter), food, and amusement rides.

Tip

The most atmospheric moment is on the opening evening during the concert in front of the Klosterbauhof, followed by the procession to the festival meadow. The Schafkopf tournament is a classic for card game enthusiasts.

Volksfest with Tradition

The Kirchweihvolksfest Niederviehbach is the social highlight of the year in the Lower Bavarian municipality in the Dingolfing-Landau district. It is organized by TSV Niederviehbach, a sports club founded in 1920 with over 1,000 members – the festival is closely intertwined with club life and is supported by numerous volunteers.

Concert and Procession

The opening follows a set ritual: a concert in front of the Klosterbauhof at 6:00 PM, followed by the procession to the festival meadow. There, the beer tapping ceremony by the mayor takes place, accompanied musically by the Viehbachtaler Blaskapelle. The Niederviehbach Monastery provides the historic backdrop.

Festival Beer from Wittmann

The specially brewed Dult-Bier from the Wittmann brewery is served – made with a special mashing process, Hallertau hops, and water from an artesian well. The beer tasting in advance is part of the festival's tradition.

Sport and Sociability

As a sports club festival, the Kirchweihvolksfest has a distinct sporting character: tennis, football matches, Bavarian skittles (Stockschießen), beach volleyball, a summer biathlon, and the popular Schafkopf tournament. Additionally, there are club days, neighborhood days, business days, a seniors' afternoon, a children's program, and a guided hike. In the evenings, bands play in the festival tent.
