Kirchweih Weinzierlein

Kärwa in the Zirndorf Hinterland

The Kärwa Weinzierlein is the Kirchweih (fair) of the district of the same name in the Middle Franconian town of Zirndorf in the Fürth district. It traditionally takes place on the first weekend of August, thus fitting into Zirndorf's full Kärwa program. The district and the main town celebrate one after another: a few weeks after Weinzierlein, the large Zirndorf Town Kärwa takes place (August 22–26, 2026).

Kärwajugend Weinzierlein e.V.

The organizer is the Kärwajugend Weinzierlein e.V., a registered association of the local youth who independently organize the Kärwa. Traditional costume couples, catering staff, and club members present the program – a typical model for Franconian village Kärwas, where the youth take on central responsibility.

Classic Franconian Kärwa

The program follows the typical Franconian Kärwa dramaturgy:

• Friday: Opening with beer tapping, performance by a party band
• Saturday: Raising of the Kärwabaum with the village community, dance evening in the festival tent
• Sunday: Festive church service, Frühschoppen, parade of traditional costume couples, lunch with Franconian specialties
• Monday: Kehraus (closing event) with Frühschoppen, auction of the Kärwabaum, and a final dance evening

Zirndorf in the District of Fürth

Zirndorf is a town with around 25,000 inhabitants in the Middle Franconian district of Fürth, nestled in the Knoblauchsland hinterland between Fürth and the city of Nuremberg. The town comprises several districts with their own Kärwas – including Wintersdorf, Lind, and Weiherhof, in addition to Weinzierlein – as well as the central Town Kärwa as the largest annual festival.
